Bacho Kiro Cave
The Bacho Kiro Cave can be found near Dryanovo monastery. It is also known as the Dryanovo Cave and was officially opened in 1890 and since 1964 it has been electrified. For as long as 1200 m an impressive underground world reveals itself before the eyes of the visitors. Formations follow one after another - “Bacho Kiro's Throne”, “The Dwarfs”, “The Sleeping Princess”, “Throne Hall”, “Reception Hall”, “Haidouti Meeting-Ground”, “Fountain”, “Sacrificial Altar” – all they evoke the admiration of the visitors. Remains of people who lived during the Paleolithic Age were found in the cave.
Bacho Kiro cave has three levels. After a low entrance, and a large antechamber, several large caverns follow, connected by 20m high passages, all with only very few speleothems. The main point of interest is the huge hall Haidushko Sboriste (Rebels’ Meeting-Ground). There are many large and small halls, galleries, and little labyrinths.

The remains of cave bear, deer, wild horse, rhinoceros, as well as well-formed flint knifes and bone spikes were discovered by an English archaeologic team. These pieces are now preserved and stored in the British Museum in London.
