Belogradchik Rocks

Belogradchik RocksThis miracle of nature – The Belogradchik Rocks in Bulgaria - has been shaped by rains, moulded by rivers and engraved by winds for more than 200 million years, trasforming the stone into wonderful figures, mythical beings and people, beasts and birds. The natural phenomenon has fantastic shapes - frozen castles, palaces, fortresses, silhouettes of people, birds and animals, ships, mushrooms, obelisks, coaches and towers, most of them rising to a height of 200 m. Some of the most remarkable and unforgettable stone sculptures are: the Pine Stone, Adam and Eve, the Sphinx, the Schoolgirl, the Nun, the Bear, the Mushrooms, Madonna, the Horseman, etc.

The Belogradchik Rocks are situated in the western part of the Fore Balkan, near the town of Belogradchik. The region of the rocks is 30 km long and 3 km wide. The rocks have numerous fantastic outlines - a sea of frozen castles, fortresses, people, birds and animals, racing chariots and scattered skyscrapers rising at a height of 200 m
